About jmc-weddings

Thank-you so much for visiting jmc-weddings and taking the time to look at our website, we would also like to offer our congratulations on your engagement!

Defining Moments

Wedding Photography will be one of the first investments that you make as a married couple and will be with you for the rest of your lives. jmc-weddings want to capture all of the detail, the fun and most importantly, all of the special moments of your wedding day in a natural, fresh and contemporary style. The vision for the day is always to tell your story through the lens and our promise is to give your day every single bit of attention it deserves.

Background - Leading Wedding Photographer London

jmc-weddings is headed up by Jamie McPhilimey. Jamie is one of the leading wedding photographers in London and the South-East, based in Wokingham near Reading, Berkshire. He has been dedicated to capturing stunning photographic images for over 20 years.

Jamie started out in the exciting world of sports photography and continues to work for many of the national newspapers and magazines shooting all the big sports events including the recent olympics as well as working with many of the top sports celebrities from all over the globe.  His business expanded into wedding photography a number of years ago and has never looked back!

What is Jamie's Photographic Style?

Jamie is a very sought after reportage photographer, his sports and photo journalistic background has helped him to develop a unique wedding photography style that is very contemporary, natural and timeless.

He photographs real people, capturing special moments and his images tell real stories, providing you with a lifetime of memories.  There is no time limit with the wedding packages, Jamie is there to tell the whole story of your special day - from the bride getting ready right through to the first dance.

If you don't like having your pictures taken, do not worry you are not alone many of his clients didn't either. Jamie's background in sports photography lends itself well to wedding photography as much of the time he will make use of his many long, fast lenses and take more pictures of you and your guests from a distance that look like he is taking them right in front of you.  The end result is that his couples don't realise he is there half the time, therefore they are much less self-conscious, relaxed, hence Jamie is unobtrusive and able to create much more natural images.

Ethos

Jamie loves weddings. They are one of the happiest occasions in life and full of so many small and momentous events that photographing them is a joy, never the same and always rewarding.  Wedding clients do not just receive a record of the day: they can look forward to evocative, flattering, exciting, and emotional photographs.

Venues

It is always a pleasure to photograph a wedding at a new venue but equally it is just as nice to revisit a venue that we have photographed weddings at before.  The following is a list of just some of the weddings venues Jamie has enjoyed to work at:

Gate Street Barn, Saint Annes Manor, Highfield House, Tudor Barn, Palm Hills, Audley Wood Hotel, Taplins Place, Greyfriars House, The Old School,  Donnington Valley Hotel & Spa, Guildhall Windsor, Wokingham Town Hall, Buckinghamshire Golf Club, Farnham House

So what's happens next, if you like what you see?

Your Enquiry

Your first contact with us will most probably be through our website. Whether you come from a printed advert, a flyer or our Facebook or twitter page, you will always be directed to our website.  Our website is designed to be fully transparent.  There are no hidden charges, no attempt to pull the wool over your eyes.  Packages, though, can be customised to suit your needs and a custom quote is just an email or phone call away.

The Meeting

For photography, most couples want to meet with Jamie before they commit to booking.   He usually spends at least an hour with couples looking through albums and showing the other elements that make up the pacakages.  Jamie will talk through what you are looking for in terms of your wedding day coverage, he will share his wealth of knowledge with you and give you suggestions that will help your days run even smoother.  There is a great advantage to having a chat with someone with a large number of weddings under his belt!   Jamie has seen it all.

The Booking

So, you’ve seen the website.  You have talked through the day, had a look at the wedding books and decided on a potential package and now you’re ready to book.   It’s as simple as sending an email.  Confirm the date, give a quick summary of the information such as time, venue and package and within 24 hours you’ll be emailed some confirmation paperwork to fill in.  Even at this point you are not committed to anything.  You then have 10 days to look through the paperwork (it’s not extensive) sign the terms and conditions and make the deposit payment of 25% to secure the date.

What Next?

Well, now you get on with the planning of your wedding.  Jamie is there to answer any questions as they arise and more than happy to answer non-photography related questions if you think he can help.

Pre-wedding Photography

An engagement, or pre wedding shoot is on offer to all our clients.  With certain packages it is offered free.  For the others it is £250.  For that fee we arrange a date and location with you and will then spend around an hour with you just having an informal photo walk.  It’s a fantastic opportunity to allay your anxiety about being in front of the camera, work out what works best for you and get to know Jamie in person so that he is not just a guy behind the camera on your wedding day.

Two to Three Weeks before the Big Day - final preparations!

A few weeks before the wedding is a good time to reconnect by phone.  It is at this point that Jamie will ask you to give some thought to the list of formal group photographs you would like.  He will normally ask you to prepare a list of the groups and give Jamie a copy as well as someone that can help do "people gathering" like an usher or best man.

Jamie will also chat through the timings of the day and make sure that there is a realistic plan in place to get the photographs that you want but also to make sure that you get the time with your guests that you deserve. Even if you think you don’t need to do this, send me an email with this information (it does pay to talk though).  There are so many little things that come up in the course of a conversation that would not come up otherwise.  There have even had several couples who have forgotten to tell me that the ceremony start time had changed! If he hadn’t had that call, things could have gone horribly wrong.

What will Jamie be up to during the big day?

Jamie thought you might like to know how he tends to interact on the day.   As excited as you will be on your wedding day, there will be a lot of nerves, some stress and possibly even some frayed tempers.  Jamie is certainly not there to add to that, which is why he just lets you get on with the day.  There will be times where you need a little guidance and certainly later in the reception you will need an authoritative figure who can get the formal group shots done.  This doesn’t have to be Jamie and in fact it is normally easier to get someone that knows many of the family members like a best man or an usher.

Your couple’s portrait is always a fun and relaxing time often welcomed by the couples themselves away from the madness of the reception for 10-15 minutes. Once all that is done Jamie is simply a fly on the wall quietly getting on with his job but is always open to any requests for photos throughout the day from you or any of your guests.

What about after the wedding?

While you’re enjoying yourself on an exotic the beach somewhere, Jamie will be busy compiling and editing your photographs so that in most cases they are ready for you on your return.  Jamie will typically take about 1200 images in a day.  A lot of these will be repeat images.  You can expect between 300 to 400 final images.  Once edited and you return nice and relaxed from you honeymoon Jamie will present your images to you over a glass of wine.  Depending on your package your photographs are burned on a CD and presented to you in a CD folio box.  The CD itself features an image from your wedding as well.
(I don’t have any images of honeymoons.  Unfortunately my job ends at the end of the wedding day, but if you want to fly me off to some exotic paradise for a few photos, I’m more than willing to oblige!).

Once you have viewed your images Jamie will post them up on to Facebook for you and your friends to share and enjoy!

If you have signed up for the wedding book package you will receive a beautiful hard backed Wedding "Proof Book" with all your images presented for you to look at and decide which ones you want to have in your final wedding book.
